ASJ, would love to read your film review....
Also, on the Talmud quote in the post below, cannot prayer and, conversely, aveirot, cause one person to receive that which has been ordained for another? Or even not acting quickly enough - as with a mitzvah, or as with a zivug?
MCAryeh: I saw Ushpizin on Saturday night at my shul since someone had brought the DVD back from Israel with them. The rabbi said he believed that the movie was SO GOOD that he didn't mind projecting it up on the white wall next to the Aron Kodesh where we watched it.
I think you will appreciate all the Breslov content in the movie, especially the scenes showing hisbodedus. I found the movie to be an incredible chizuk and look forward to buying the DVD so I my wife can see it as well.
As for the quote from the Talmud, I don't know the answer to your question. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than myself could answer it.
I already have it on my online rental service list for when it's released. Can't wait!
Did you see "Everything's Illuminated"? I was wondering if it was good.
Alice: Someone told me that I would like "Everything's Illuminated", especially since I visited my family's shtetl in Ukraine. I read the book, but could not really get into it and eventually put it down without finishing it.
I could not get through the first chapter of Everything Is Illuminated, so also did not have much interest in the film. Thanks for your impressions on Ushpizin, ASJ. I will try and get to it sometime in the next week or two...
