5770 = שְׁעַת

Last night, the Sudilkover Rebbe told me that 5770 (תש"ע) will a year in which Hashem will express His rachamim (compassion) and ratzon (desire). He explained that this is hinted to in the fact that the letters that make up this year תש"ע can be rearranged into the word שְׁעַת that is found in the tefilla of Avinu Malkeinu:

אָבִינוּ מַלְכֵּנוּ תְּהֵא הַשָּׁעָה הַזּאת שְׁעַת רַחֲמִים וְעֵת רָצון מִלְּפָנֶיךָ

  1. 5770 is also the 200th anniversary of the printing of Degel Machaneh Ephraim.

  5. When I ran into Rabbi Nachman Burstein, shlita, in Uman, he remarked that the acrostic of the new year is "shnas aliyah," a year of ascent. Kein yehi ratzon!

  6. 1) "a year in which Hashem will express His rachamim (compassion) and ratzon (desire)."

    That is vague.

    But at least the Rebbe realizes that it is not a good idea to make grandiose and irresponsible specific predictions.

  8. Neil Harris makes a good point.
    In fact the Lubavitcher Rebbe spoke many times about 770 being gematria "Beis Moshiach"...

    Yep, this year should be good for business!
