When There Is Strife Among Us

Dvar Torah from DF:

וַיְהִי-רִיב, בֵּין רעֵי מִקְנֵה-אַבְרָם וּבֵין רעֵי מִקְנֵה-לוֹט וְהַכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַפְּרִזִּי אָז ישֵׁב בָּאָרֶץ

"And there was strife between the shepherds of Avram's livestock and the shepherds of Lot's livestock – and the Canaanite and the Perizite were in the land." (Bereishis 13:7)

Perhaps it hints that when there is strife among us - וְהַכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַפְּרִזִּי, אָז ישֵׁב בָּאָרֶץ - then the "Canaanite and the Perizite," meaning foreign nations, will occupy the Land of Israel.

אז can also mean "in the future"
