The Media's Ventriloquist Puppets
After imbibing Diet Pravda to the point of satiation, it is not uncommon for people to become ventriloquist puppets of the media. Before they have even critically analyzed the information, they spout out news commentators' opinions as if they were their own.
Rare is the person who is not parroting the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, or CNN.
Rare is the person who stops drinking Diet Pravda and starts to espouse his own educated opinions.

Hopefully that should help. I'm posted this on your Disengagemnt post, but just in case you don't go back that far to check, it's here too. [NOT SPAM! :)]
Thanks Yitz (and you too Mirty!) for the instructions. I appreciate your help.
Yea, I think that's the goal of the media.
I always got a kick of media people who say that they "want to change the world," or "make a difference."
Shouldn't the media be just providing information? Well, they don't seem to think so.
However, although the media does have the ability to sway public opinion, intelligent people can process the information and come up with their own conclusions. It just takes a bit more work...
I also think that we all do this. We parrot the opinion we've been taught by the leaders / schools of thought that we trust - be it religious, secular, or otherwise; our world view never comes out of a vacuum - no?
everyone has a bias and everyone's bias is affected by what surrounds them.
chab, regarding your comment about religious leaders, we are required to follow them, its an obligation of emunos chachamim
