Hadran - Plowing In The Winter

Over the weekend, I finished learning Maseches Sukka and today I began Maseches Megillah.

...and this posting is still as applicable now as it was back in November.

I just need to keep reminding myself of Yosef's insightful comment, "The first time through is always the hardest‭, 'plowing the soil‭'. ‬The fruit comes from review‭, ‬when it all fits together and becomes clear in your mind‭."

Mazal Tov! May you go from strength to strength, an complete many more!

An interesting tidbit: In Maseches Megilla the Gemora quotes Megillas Esther 127 times (as in the 127 nations ruled by Achashveirosh)!
Now you'll have the opportunity to keep count ;-)

Thank you, Chabakuk Elisha. That is a very good fact to remember - especially since I am only on 2a.

I wonder how anyone ever figured that out and what prompted them to keep count.

I once tried to keep record of how many times the Baal Shem Tov is quoted in Degel Machaneh Ephraim. I got up to 125 at the end of Parshas Metzora and then stopped counting....

Rabbi Brody: Thank you for your continual encouragement! Without it I would have never picked up a Gemara and started learning it again. G-d willing, one day I will finish the entire Shas as you wrote.
