Maaser On Monday
Last week, my supervisor stopped by my desk and gave me a letter that said that I was awarded $1,500 for my performance.
Acknowledging this brocha, I separated maaser and gave tzedakah to Eizer L'Shabbos, a very small but wonderful organization that uses every penny it receives to help poor people.
I certainly hope the Boss gives me many more opportunities such as this to give!

Good for you! And spreading the wealth...kol ha-kavod.
Must ask, though: does blogging count for "performance"? ;) If so, I'd be CEO of my company!!
I don't think it does ;)
Quite honestly, I don't think that I am any great worker. But...if you grade the place on a curve, then I would get an "A".
Mazal tov on your bonus -- and thanks for giving to Eizer L'Shabbos, which is a project of our friend, Reb Binyomin Rosenberg. He has lived Tzefat for about ten years, but is a native Brooklynite, a son of Rabbi Avraham Yosef Rosenberg, author/translator of the Judaica TaNaKH and a talmid muvhak of Reb Moshe Feinstein, zatzal.
Reb Binyomin called me last night about a chaver whose refridgerator broke, and who had no money to buy a new one. So Reb Binyomin gave him the money as a matanah from Eizer L'Shabbos, and then called to see if we could raise some more funds to pay back the account and to help other needy people in the community.
Eizer L'Shabbos really does what it claims to do. This is such a chashuvah tzeddakah -- I can't recommend it highly enough!
Congrats!
Thanks Alice! :)
Yasher Koach, ASJ! You are truly a mentsch among men....
Thanks MCAryeh!
Dear Simple Jew:
I came upon your blog through a Google search for Eizer Lshabbos.
I want you to know that I am very involved in this organization having personally donated a fair sum of money and having personally reaised well over $20,000.00 for them as well. I was zocheh to visit R' Binyamin in Tsfat this past Adar when visiting Israel for my son's Hanachas Tefilin.
Two nights ago I attended a speaking engagement by the famed "Ger Tzedek of Tsfat" - Rabbi Natan Gamedze the former African Prince. This was to raise funds for Eizer Lshabbos as well. B'H over $5,000.00 was raised.
Please let me know if I can direct any of your readers attention to this most worthy cause and if we can arrange for an event in your neighborhood.
Best hatzlacha
