A Project To Print Degel Machaneh Ephraim In My Family's Shtetl

The Sudilkover Rebbe, Rabbi Aryeh Wohl, a descendent of the Degel Machaneh Ephraim and also Rabbi Ephraim of Sudilkov (son-in-law of Rebbe Yaakov Shimshon of Shepetovka), recently revealed to me his project to reprint the sefer Degel Machaneh Ephraim. He is slowly and methodically working on this new printing; hoping to correct many of the errors that have made their way into the text over time and add footnotes that will help to better explain the text. Upon completion of his project, the Sudilkover Rebbe plans to print this sefer in my family's shtetl in Ukraine. It will be the first time Degel Machaneh Ephraim has ever been printed in the shtetl where the Degel resided.

Sholom aleychem, Simple Jew!

I like old nigunim, especially of talmidey Baal Shem, and their talmidim. May be Sudilkover Rebbe may know some of these (may of the Degel or other tzadikkim)? I'll be very interested in them. Old nigunim can't be compared to anything else, since they are made by such awesome tzadikim. If someone can record Sudilkover Rebbe singing (for private use) it will be really great. What do you think about it?

A Yid: It is always a good idea to have more niggunim recordings, however, I know that Sudilkover Rebbe is extremely busy and I wouldn't know how to arrange this. Sorry.

That CD doesn't contain anything unususal. No nigunim of the Degel for sure. May be there is someone in NY who knows such nigunim?

I prefer not just to have them, but to use them :) Nigunim are great.

that collection is nice, (and includes a Dzikover Chossid singing with his adult daughters!), but it does not include Sudilkover Nigunim.

A very worthy cause. Did not realize Rav Wohl was so young! Is there still a working press in the shtetl?

No, not to my knowledge. This is a detail that will have to be worked out.
