New Andy Statman CDs To Be Released On Rebbe Nachman's Yahrtzeit

Received via e-mail from the Breslov Center:

Breslov Center co-founder Andy Statman has created his two most powerful artistic statements thus far on his own label, Shefa Records.

Released in tandem, "Awakening From Above" features Andy's virtuoso clarinet renditions of Chassidic niggunim and original improvisations, while "East Flatbush Blues" focusses on his mandolin wizardry and an American roots repertoire, including seven original compositions. Those who have heard the Andy Statman Trio in recent years will be happy to find regular collaborators Jim Whitney on acoustic bass and Larry Eagle on drums in good form on both recordings.

Advance copies of "Awakening From Above" and "East Flatbush Blues" have already received rave reviews in music magazines and on a recent NPR profile of Andy Statman . For samples, visit andystatman.org.

The official release date is 18 Tishrei, which is the second day of Chol HaMo'ed Sukkos and Rebbe Nachman's Yartzeit.

Andy will be performing in honor of the Yartzeit and the release of his latest recordings at the Charles St. Shul (Charles and West 4th off

Sheridan Sq. in the West Village ) on Monday night, Oct. 23, beginning at 8:30 Chassidic Standard Time.

The Breslov Center wishes Andy great success with these musical milestones, and looks forward to presenting his artistry at Breslov events in the future.
