Guest Posting From Mrs. Space Cadet - Growing Up
Although Mrs. Space Cadet spends most of her time gardening and keeping the Catskills Hermit supplied with his ration of Swee-Touch-Nee tea, this evening she found time to jot down a poem about a country girl who moves to the Big City. (It is her answer to the old song "How’re you gonna keep her down on the farm…")
Growing Up
Growing up in woods and wilderness
Free to run and splash
In puddles and bogs
Jumping from hillock to hillock
Splash!
Wet socks, dirty feet
So what!
Grown up now in city somber
Searching for the sun
Looking for mud and tadpoles
Not finding even one.
Older now, and found
In the mountains all around
Green leaf and endless sky
Alas -- no longer wondering why

Definitely one of the great poems of the 21st century!
Lovely.
