Hamodia magazine just featured an excellent article about selecting the right wick. The Menorat HaZahav standing wick holders pictured above got very high ratings. They are a thin hollow tube with a circular base to hold it up straight in the middle. A wax covered wick is then inserted into the tube.

A few weeks ago, I too tested one out and it worked better than anything I have tried before. I plan to use these this Chanuka.

Do any other Chassidic groups have a practice of placing letters in their Rebbe's seforim after his passing as a way of obtaining eitzah for the here and now?

The wick doesn't have to be wax covered. I use simple cotton wicks inside such brass tubes.
