The Shamash

There is great sanctity in the shamash candle as well. In fact, their sanctity is even greater than that of the Chanuka candles themselves, for the shamash is comparable to the kohen who kindles the lamps in the Beis HaMikdash and to the fiery angels who kindle the holy lamps illuminating Hashem's throne of glory.
