Me'or Einayim - 1870, Lemberg

Excerpt from Ohr Yekaros:

Once when Rebbe Yisroel of Rizhin was staying at an inn he asked that a Chassidishe sefer be brought to him. When the innkeeper brought him a copy of Me'or Einayim, Rebbe Yisroel of Rizhin remarked, "This sefer is the opening and beginning of Chassidus - without this sefer one has not even begun to learn Chassidus."

What was the relationship like between the Me'or Einayaim and others such as Rebbe Pinchas of Koretz, the Toldos Yaakov Yosef, or Rebbe Boruch'l of Mezhebuz?

Does he quote from any of these people in his sefer or does he quote from just the Baal Shem Tov and Maggid of Mezeritch

Regarding the Me'or Einayim, the Toldos Yaakov Yosef said, "The world says that he is a tzaddik - but they are wrong. He is 10 tzaddikim!!"

To me, Meor Einayim is the clearest hesber of Toras HaBaal Shem Tov of the classic works of Chassidus that I have ever seen. Learning it never fails to open my mind and lift up my heart!

The more one grasps these foundations of Chassidus, the more one can understand later works like Likkutei Moharan and Likkutei Halakhos, the Chabad seforim, Izhbitz / Reb Tzadok, Piacetzno, and the rest.
