New Pirkei Avos / Notzer Chesed Women's Class In Jerusalem
Rabbi Betzalel Edwards is giving a giving a new class for women in Jerusalem, reading and discussing Pirkei Avos together with the commentary Notzer Chesed from of the Komarno Rebbe. This sefer is an introduction to Chassidus and the more Kaballistic works of the Komarno Rebbe.
Admission requirements: Respect for the Torah and a love of Israel.
Goals: Understanding basic concepts in Chassidus and Kaballah, appreciating the difference between the two. While it is beyond the scope of the class as to whether the student lives according to the course material, personal work of applying the advice found in the text in our daily lives is encouraged insofar as it solidifies the text, and bridges the gap between the theoretical and the practical. This is not a teshuvah seminar or a forum for religious coercion. As a great Chassidic master once said, "Another person's avodah is his own business." We will start with the simple meaning of the text of the Mishna, and then see how the Komarno Rebbe unveils the text through the lens of Lurianic Kabbalah and the Chassidic practices of the Baal Shem Tov.
